I converted your steamer into a anti "U" boat net tender, used to open and close the sub net and do repairs on them. I found a few photos of one stationed near Newport R.I. and although longer, somewhat the same. The job the net tenders did was hard, and constant in rough water, with little time for maintenance. From what I can see these were not a class of ships in the navy, did civilian vessels commandeered for war time use. The photos I have seen they are very weathered and beaten up."
